 Setting the Date...

 | June is the most popular month for weddings but don’t feel you have to follow the crowd. There may be a day that holds a special meaning such as the date the two of you first met or became engaged. The date of your first kiss is wonderfully romantic.
June is ideal especially if mild weather is important to the event. Garden weddings, for instance, are often best in late spring or early summer, when the landscape and colors are at their peak. An almanac or the weather service can advise you on whether the date you are considering is suited to an outdoor affair in your area. Availability is also a factor in choosing a date.

Many wedding professionals and locations including churches and syna¬gogues are booked well in advance, so inquire right away. June is the most popu¬lar month, followed by August, July, May, September, October, April and December. As for the days of the week Saturdays in particular fill up early. Sometimes a vendor who is booked solid for Saturday may be willing to negotiate a lower fee in exchange for your accepting a different day. If you have your heart set on a specific caterer, florist or musician check with that, service provider first and select a date based on his or her schedule.
When narrowing down your date options, ask relatives, friends and members of the wedding party for any potential conflicts.
Don’t forget to check with your employers about scheduling time off. Also look at a calendar of upcoming event in your area for anything that could wreak havoc with your plans.
Getting married on a holiday can offer your guests a minivacation and a delightful event all in one. However, beware of booking and transportation problems. If you decide to have your wedding on a holiday, plan well in advance to avoid congestion.
